Guatemalan Birth Attendant Education Improves 

Knowledge, Skills & Confidence in Care of Mother and Infant

WE NEED $70,500 USD to reach this GOAL

 Together, the Rotary club Guatemala entre Volcanes in Guatemala City, and the Rotary Club of Madison West Middleton, USA will conduct six vocational training trips over three years in Guatemala to complete the education of 24 Master Trainers. Designing this project in response to community need, integrating local experts as future teachers and providing necessary resources ensures  sustained continuation of training and skill development necessary to assure live-saving care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Trainers are regionally selected to assure proximity and familiarity with local dialects. In conjunction with the National Hospitals, the Schools of Nursing and Midwives and country-wide professional organizations, improving morbidity and mortality rates can happen. Trainers will be provided simulation teaching aids as well as Samsung Galaxy tablets to assure communication and data collection to document the success of this program over time.
